It’s no secret that I am obssesed with cars. One of my favorite overall cars since 2010 has been the Volkswagen GTI. I have never owned one but I use to sell Volkswagens and this was one of my favorite cars to drive and sell. I would get to work in the morning and get some work done like a normal employee, but as soon as I hit a good stopping point before lunch, I would go to the key track system and take out a key for one of the few GTI’s that we had on the lot. Luckily, I had the opportunity to try out 4 generations of VW GTIs. From the MK4 to the MK7, I have had the pleasure of being able to test drive all of these cars quite a few times. I can say from the MK4 all the way through to the MK7 I have had so much fun in every single one of these cars that I don’t want to compare them to each other. I just want to tell you how wonderful the most modern version is, the MK7. This turbo engined beauty has all the power that you need to have a good time while still being able to get the gas mileage that is neseccary for gas prices these days if you decided to drive sensibly that is. Still going from 0-60 in 5.7 seconds, this isn’t a car to slouch on. And with all of this power you get a suspension package that can take you around a corner with ease like a well balanced machine. You can feel the steering through the custom shaped wheel with a flat bottom covered in leather and full of buttons to control your entertainment system. Luckily Volkswagen still give you the opportunity to choose between a dual clutch shiftable automatic or a smooth clutched manual transmission. It really depends on how you like to drive to determine which one is better, but either way you go is going to give you a great driving experience. There are some great features that are offered from Volkswagen for the GTI. Starting up at the front you can get the optional lighting package that gives the GTI a beautiful face day or night with some great LED accent lighting. This also includes the red striping on each door to go along with the signature GTI red. You also have the option for a sunroof & leather in the upgraded package. This also comes with an upgraded speaker system that includes a subwoofer hidden away underneathe the trunk. While we are talking about the trunk, Volkswagen has given you the ability to have a two level trunk for a little extra space and so when you flatten the back seats it’s all one smooth floor for easy use. To sum it up, the Volkswagen GTI is a 4 seater, sports car, good mpg, spacious, and just overall fun. It’s on my list of the top 10 cars to own of all time. Go get yourself a test drive!
